The Fourth Annual Norman J Herndon Scholarship Fund Crappie Classic will be held at Sterett Creek Marina on July 29, 2017.
The Norman J. Herndon Scholarship was established to honor its namesake upon his passing in 2013. He was an Army Veteran and served as superintendent of schools in Livonia, Mt. Moriah, Tri-County of Jamesport, Fairfax, and for his last 17 years in Kearney, all in Missouri. Upon retirement they moved to Warsaw, Missouri. During their 21 years there, Norman served as Executive Secretary for the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce.
Norman was a member of the Lions Club and the American Legion. He was a fourth degree member, past Grand Knight and District Deputy in the Knights of Columbus, and a past member of the St. Ann's Parish Council in Warsaw, Missouri. He was a member of the Missouri School Administrators and the Retired Teachers Association.
This scholarship fund has been established to honor his memory and provide college scholarships to high school seniors who best exemplify his ideals. It is supported by generous donations from family, friends, and various organizations.
